International summit in Bergen
Farvatn and Katapult Ocean invite Silicon Valley to Bergen during One Ocean Week. The goal is to invest in sustainable solutions for the ocean's future.
In April, Farvatn and Katapult Ocean invite venture capital funds from Silicon Valley and the Nordics to a gathering over four days, which is based on the SOS gathering "Sustainable Ocean Solutions". The goal is to invest in sustainable solutions for the ocean's future.
- Never before have we combined the most advanced ocean research with the most experienced, and motivated investors to find joint solutions for our ocean, says Kristin Odfjell in Farvatn to One Ocean Week.
- As of today, we are only scratching the surface, says Johan Odvar Odfjell. To bring about change, we need an even stronger partnership. We need to be more ambitious, targeted and united. Together with the global impact fund Katapult Ocean, we will sit down with politicians, researchers and risk capital to explore the possibilities, he says and adds: This summit will culminate in a new summit in San Francisco in 2025. The work we do between then and now becomes the theme.
City council leader Rune Bakervik hails the initiative.
- Now Bergen is really being put on the map. Farvatn and Katapult Ocean are taking the initiative to invite large investment funds from the USA and the Nordic countries to discuss solutions for a sustainable ocean. It is precisely such initiatives that the maritime city of Bergen needs in order to take a leading position for future solutions related to the marine industries. We fully support this initiative, says city council leader Rune Bakervik to One Ocean Week.
